The 10 ChildKind Ways of Working have been co-designed by families of children with disability, developmental difference, and neurodivergence, along with the practitioners who support them. This holistic framework prioritises the unique needs of each child and their family, promoting inclusive, high-quality, child-centred care that values the voices of families.

The 2025 ChildKind Conference will explore these ways of working in more depth, providing an opportunity for practitioners to delve into practical strategies and research that enhance child and family outcomes.

Abstract submissions are invited to reflect and expand on these practices, showcasing how these ways of working can be embedded into everyday practice to improve outcomes for children.

During the abstract submission process you will be asked to select which of the 10 Childkind Ways of Working your presentation bests aligns with.

  • We encourage submissions that explore approaches to observing and responding to children in a way that recognises their individuality and the unique context of their family. How can we tune in, notice, and act on the needs and cues of each child in real-time?

  • Submissions should focus on practices that genuinely centre the child and their family in decision-making and care. We are looking for examples of how centring family experiences can shape service delivery, ensuring that the perspectives and voices of families are integral to the process.

  • How can we break down barriers to inclusion for children and families? We seek abstracts that detail strategies, policies, or initiatives that promote the active participation of all children in society, irrespective of their abilities, in a way that fosters a sense of belonging.

  • We invite insights on personalising support to meet each child’s and family’s needs. Submissions should highlight ways to tailor interventions, resources, and services that are flexible and responsive to the child’s developmental and social circumstances.

  • Submissions under this theme should discuss the application of evidence-based practices in child and family services. How can we ensure our work is grounded in the latest research while being adaptable to the unique needs of the families we serve?

  • In an ever-evolving landscape, the ability to adapt and remain responsive is crucial. We are interested in examples of agile practices in service delivery that are effective in dynamic or complex environments and promote better outcomes for children.

  • Collaboration is key to holistic support. We welcome abstracts detailing successful collaborations among professionals, organisations, and families that have led to innovative solutions or more integrated service delivery models.

  • Submissions should focus on continuous improvement and learning within child and family services. How can practitioners and organisations evolve their practices to better serve children and families, ensuring growth and development for all stakeholders?

  • Capacity building empowers children and families to thrive. We seek submissions on strategies that help children and families develop the skills, confidence, and networks needed to navigate their environments successfully.

  • Transitions can be challenging for children and families. We encourage submissions that offer insights into how to best support children during key transitions in their lives, from early intervention to schooling and beyond, ensuring a smooth and supportive process.
